Towards incorporating medical plain language in arText claro (2022UPF-MS-2)

Research project developed at Departamento de Filologías Extranjeras y sus Lingüísticas from the Facultad de Filología in Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), with the collaboration of the IULATERM group and the Sociedad Española de Medicina de Familia y Comunitaria (semFYC).

FUNDING

This project has been carried out thanks to the European Union-NextGenerationEU, Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, through a call from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona).

Budget: 69.700 euros (principal investigator recruitment and relocation expenses)

AIMS AND METHODOLOGY

This project has two main objectives:

OBJECTIVE 1. Incorporate in arText claro the possibility of writing medical texts for patients in clear language.

OBJECTIVE 2. Integrate into the lexical level of the tool a glossary of medical terms with their simple variants.
