Adaptation of arText and arText claro into Catalan

Research project developed at Departamento de Filologías Extranjeras y sus Lingüísticas from the Facultad de Filología in Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), in the framework of the  ACTUALing research group, with the collaboration of the IULATERM group.

This project has been funded by two institutions: the Direcció General de Política Lingüística of the Conselleria de Fons Europeus, Universitat i Cultura, of the Govern de les Illes Balears, and the Oficina de Suport a la Iniciativa Cultural of the Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya, with the support of the Secretaria de Política Lingüística.

Budget: 36.278,00 € (18.139,00 € each institution)

AIMS AND METHODOLOGY

The main objective of this project is to adapt arText and arText claro from Spanish to Catalan, taking into account the Balearic, Valencian and Central/Northwestern variants.

METHODOLOGY

Adaptation of the technological infrastructure of the arText system to the Catalan language.	Translation of the arText website into Catalan.	Adaptation to Catalan variants of the sections, contents and phraseology of the text genres included in arText (public administration, medicine, tourism, academic field) and in arText claro.	Implementation of the language recommendations of arText and arText claro in Catalan.
